McMoBros

Well, it’s that time of the year again. The snow can fly, the lips are clear and we all can take a collective sigh after an intense month. Many people ‘participate’ in Movember, few put as much effort into as the McMoBros.

This month we were relentless in the pursuit of good times and we were rewarded hugely in the community. Our efforts beyond talking about Movember and prostate health awarness included:

• Maxwells benefit organized by McMoBros Robb
• Dancing night at Flying Dog
• Pulled Pork MOpenHouse by McMoBros Aaron
• MoSistas for Mistas - the first annual Movember KW event for women - organized by McMoBro Julie
• 2nd annual ‘Disorganized Pub Crawl’

Our rewards were plentiful and included:

• Best Dressed at the KW Movember Ball - McMoBros James
• Surround sound system from Gibson Sound & Vision - McMoBros Aaron
• 1st & 2nd runners up for Woman of Movember - Christine & Jen
• Man of Movember - McMoBros Robb

We did our best to keep you in the loop and tried our hardest to earn your donations. As Movember participants continue to grow we need to focus on awareness and not on fundraising or this month will loose it’s charm - that’s why we want to EARN your MoDollas.

And, earn MoDollas we did. The McMoBros sit just under $3,100 among 23 members, nearly $135/member making us one of the top earning teams in Waterloo Region - without pleading for support!

A special shout out must go to Julie who was the teams top fundraiser and wore a moustache every day in Movember - particularly to professional and social events. She recognizes that it’ll be pressure from women that make men have a conversation with their physicians!

Movember is definitely gaining traction as a very exciting month in Waterloo Region, I hope next year we will find more businesses participating offering donation incentives for fun challenges - like McCabes $1000 Tweetup.

Alas, this year is over, our faces are cold, but our hearts are warm. New frienships, closer connections and lots of laughs, that’s what every McMoBros walks away with this year. Maybe you’ll join KW’s Most Prolific Party Team in 2012?

Introducing (some) of the men of the McMoBros & top fundraiser Julie.

The McMoBros are a Movember team, unlike any other. We party hard, celebrate through the otherwise dreary month of November. Holding true to our mantra of:

Celebrate, educate, donate.

the McMoBros did a great job of rallying fun and funds with a per capita donation of nearly $135/team member. Higher than most any other team in Waterloo Region.

However, Movember for the McMoBros is not about asking for funds, it’s for encouraging men to talk to their physicians about prostate heath. Prostate cancer is the most prevalent cancer among men and the most managable if detected early.

Please, men - have a discussion about prostate health with your physician.

While this post celebrates the men of the McMoBros, the McMoBros is predominantly women, and our message to women that love men is that they encourage their men to have a discussion about prostate health. Men are stubborn in the doctors office, it’s the pressure of women that will keep more of us around longer.

The MoBall at the Museum was great and the McMoBros did so well.

The event included a photo wall staffed by McMoBros Christine taking lovely profile pictures, McMoBros Ramy wandered with his camera and McMoBros Jen organized a art silent auction.

The Museum (sorry, MOseum) was decordated in red and white, drinks were served, live music was sang and a DJ had the whole place bumpin’. Swag and prizes were given out, including a surround sound system won by McMoBros Aaron.

When it came time to award prizes, Carlos & Sophie of 91.5 The Beat handed out the honours starting with ‘Woman of Movember’ - Contestants included McMoBros Jen and Christine, but a very deserving Breanne of BreCreative was the winner.

Man of Movember crowd appeal came down to Karl and Robb (McMoBros), it was a close battle, maybe it was the time-lapse video released earlier in the day that did it, but McMoBros Robb was the big winner for 2011!

Awarded earlier was ‘Best Dressed of Movember’ which was awarded to McMoBros James for his epic ‘V for Vendetta’ costume! There can be little doubt that whole McMoBros team partied the hardest at #MoBall too!

Bottom line is it was a great night for all attendees and a great month for all men (and women who love them). Just a few things to tie up before the McMoBros call Movember season closed.

Wildcraft had an end of Movember party with specialty drinks, specialty apps, lots of swag, sexy MoBros and lovely ladies. A number of Fedy’s were there sporting ‘BieberMos’ or ‘AlMosts’, even a 4.5 month old showed up sporting a lip sweater.

Classy place, classy people. Thanks for the invite Pat. Hope you all keep the Mo’s for another day and come to the KW Gala - the MoBall - at the Museum aka the MOseum on Thursday.

It certainly appears that, in spite of the lack of epic Mo, Robb did refrain from shaving his upper lip this Movember!!
